Hitting the road for the very LAST time as Boy Named Banjo, the Nashville-raised four-piece closes out a 15-year chapter before stepping into their new era as Breakfield.

Boy Named Banjo, now known as Breakfield, is a fusion of Americana & folk-rock with a foundation of bluegrass, telling their stories through an honest & roots-driven perspective. The band, which has been together in some iteration since members were in high school, includes Barton Davies (banjo/vocals), Ford Garrard (bass/standing bass), Sam McCullough (drums), and William Reames (acoustic guitar/harmonica/vocals).

This farewell run as Boy Named Banjo marks the end of one era—and the beginning of another.

In the decade since their stripped-down 2012 debut, The Tanglewood Sessions, brought them to Bonnaroo, Boy Named Banjo have taken Nashville and beyond by storm with a series of critically acclaimed, genre-bending releases that have earned performances everywhere from the Ryman to the Grand Ole Opry alongside dates supporting the likes of Kip Moore, Hank Williams, Jr., Old Crow Medicine Show, and the Cadillac Three.

On their latest album, Dusk, Boy Named Banjo explored the full sonic and emotional spectrum of their rich, eclectic sound, from late-night, feel-good anthems to stripped-down, introspective meditations on loneliness, loss, and letting go.

While the band explored genres and flexed their range on Dusk, they have been working on a new body of music that marks a full-circle return to their Americana and bluegrass roots. “In the ten-plus years we’ve been together, we’ve explored many different sounds,” says banjoist and vocalist Barton Davies, “but the one we keep coming back to is that folky, acoustic sound that inspired us to pick up our instruments in the first place.” The group’s new music is slated for release in 2024.

With support from Will Overman—WILL OVERMAN is a Virginia raised singer-songwriter living in Nashville, TN. Often referred to as “Appalachian John Mayer,” Overman is known for his dynamic vocal delivery and heart-worn lyrics wrapped in a mixture of Alternative and Country music, that is as restless as the writer himself.

Working with producers Bobby Holland and Brad Sample, Overman’s sophomore album, Stranger (releasing Fall 2025), finds the Virginia-raised singer-songwriter developing as both a storyteller and a musician. Singles such as “Held Up by a Woman,” “Virginia Is For Lovers” and “Names” build on his penchant for poetic lyrics bound by endlessly catchy tunes, and are a great representation of the energy that Will delivers live.
